Helpful programs to make your business green

Switching to green cleaning is an easy way to get your building and business on the path to saving money, being healthier and getting green-certified. There are several programs in place to reward your business and/or make certain it is as green as possible.

BREEAM^®

BREEAM (The Building Research Establishment Assessment Method) is the world’s longest established and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the standards for best practice in sustainable development and demonstrates a level of achievement. It has become the vocabulary used to describe a building’s environmental performance. Created by BRE, BREEAM is a tried and tested system both in terms of its robust technical standards and its commercial delivery, (especially the independence of its licensing, quality assurance and certification process). Winner of the ‘Best Program’ Award at the influential 2005 Tokyo World Sustainable Building Conference, BREEAM was acknowledged ‘the most successfully executed programme for promoting sustainable practices, and influencing other initiatives, worldwide’. In the UK 65,000 buildings have been certified to date and a further 270,000 are currently registered for assessment. BREEAM Certification is undertaken by licensed assessors ensuring that assessment services are offered competitively by assessors working within a rigorous quality assurance framework. BRE trains, examines and licenses organisations and individuals to carry out the assessment process and work with the design team. The BREEAM approval has provided the framework for derivative methodologies in many countries.
